Bookings are already being taken for top theatre shows just days after Bill Kenwright announced he’s heading back to The Broadway Theatre in Peterborough with a run of his latest productions.
In 2013 the theatre producer briefly brought the Broadway back to life with a short season of top shows including Evita and Joseph, now he’s announced another short run starting on November 17.
Since the success of the previous season there’s been huge demand for him to make a return and bring more great performances and stars to the city’s stage.
The season opens with Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber’s masterpiece Jesus Christ Superstar, the ground-breaking concept rock opera which tells the story of the last seven days of the life of Christ. Next is the thriller And Then There Were None – recently voted ‘world’s favourite Agatha Christie’ – which sees 10 strangers lured to a remote island only to mysteriously die, one by one. Something more heart-warming follows – a new production of The Sound Of Music, which promises to enchant the young and the young at heart with, all of their ‘Favorite Things’.
Family favourites Dr Seuss’ The Cat In The Hat, and, Miracle on 34th Street, The Musical are followed by something to get you ‘In The Mood’ for the festive season:Tommy Steele in The Glenn Miller Story, featuring a spectacular 16 piece orchestra plus sensational performers and dazzling choreography, led by London Palladium’s most successful ever star. And, by huge popular demand, a musical favourite of theatregoers everywhere, Willy Russell’s multi-award winning Blood Brothers returns to Peterborough.
Over the last few years the Peterborough Sings! group of choirs have been the only group staging peformances at the theatre which suffered several setbacks and has largely remained closed. On December 20 they will be back on stage with their annual ‘Christmas Magic’ concert featuring the Peterborough Male Voice Choir with Peterborough Voices, Youth Choir and Festival Orchestra under the direction of Will Prideaux.
In response to customer feedback, there’s no additional booking fees to pay on top of the stated ticket prices, and a range of concessions and discounts are available.
