ANGLE AXE THROWING HITS THE TARGET IN PETERBOROUGH

ESP’s Mikey Clarke is always up for trying something new, so we sent him to try out his skills at one of Peterborough’s newest attractions – Angle Axe Throwing!

I’ve actually socialised a handful of times since Boris gave the thumbs up to do so. It is in no way as surreal out there as I had initially feared.

My first ESP outing out of lockdown came courtesy of Glo Golf, a glow-in-the-dark golf course which is the first of its kind – not only in Peterborough, but all of Cambridgeshire.

My most recent venture was Axe Throwing – yet another first for our city. This modern sport has exploded in popularity within the United States and now it’s right on our doorstep!

I was invited down to give it a go by the owners, Adam McCarthy and Tiffany Collyer.

This is their second business venture since they launched Angle Escape Rooms. Having now attended both of these on behalf of ESP, let me start by saying that this lovely couple go above and beyond to make the customer experience as enjoyable as possible.

My first impressions of walking into Angle Axe Throwing (located at PE1 Retail Park at Eye) was that the hour ahead of me would be Covid safe (thanks to their government followed restrictions) and that I was in for a great time. With a football table, arcade machine and snacks also available, it was much more of an event than I had anticipated.

To focus on the axe throwing specifically – after a safety briefing, we were left to our own accord to enjoy the experience at our own pace.

With all lanes fully booked during this particular session, it was interesting to see so many different approaches to the activity. Some were keeping score and getting really quite competitive and others were there solo to master their own skills. As for my team, we had some serious de-stressing to do. After all having had an extremely busy week at work, we agreed that throwing these specialized axes was the perfect way to let off steam.

We loved it!

This is a great activity for not only you and your mates, but the entire family! It’s certainly cheaper than couple’s counselling.

Why not give it a go yourself?

Their ranges are open 10am-10pm Monday – Saturday, and 10am – 5pm Sundays.
