Local actor Warwick Davis has appeared in numerous big blockbuster movies. He’s perhaps best known for playing the Ewok Wicket in the 1983 film Star Wars: Episode VI – Return of the Jedi.
The official Star Wars YouTube page has just released a video of Davis announcing his return to the franchise – although we’re yet to find out what role he’ll play.
The news comes just as we can reveal that the city star will be the celebrity turning on this year’s Christmas lights at Serpentine Green Shopping Centre on Thursday November 13. Watch this space for more on that.
The video is hilarious, with the little details standing out in my opinion. For example, the coffee mug on the desk with the phrase ‘Actual Size’ and the small Ewok action figure had me cracking up. The footage shows the Peterborough celeb waiting around for a call from Star Wars director, JJ Abrams. Although portrayed in a humorous way, I do have to wonder how much truth there is to the joke.
I’ve had the pleasure of interviewing Warwick on numerous occasions for ESP Magazine and he has mentioned his desire to hear from JJ more than once. I know he’ll be delighted to have been asked to return to the franchise – almost as much as we’re delighted to see him return.
Warwick will join other cast members such as Harrison Ford, Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher, Peter Mayhew, Anthony Daniels and Andy Serkis. See them in the most hyped up film in years, in cinemas on December 18, 2015.
