WORLD RECORD ‘SMASHED’ AT QUEENSGATE

On Saturday, a World Record was set by football freestyler, Dan Magness as he took part in Queensgate Shopping Centre’s football extravaganza.

Hundreds turned up to witness the record attempt for the most consecutive football touches with his shoulders only, which previously stood at 340. At 1pm, and in just under 10 minutes, Dan Magness recorded an incredible 1,100 – a new World Record!

Dan Magness said: “That was a tough challenge but the crowds really got behind me and carried me through to the end. I would like to thank everyone in Peterborough and Queensgate for supporting me.”

Throughout the day, over 500 people took part in a free penalty shoot-out competition to record the fastest kick. The youngest competitor was just five months old and the eldest was 84 and the fastest shot of the day was set at 65mph.

Goodies provided by Game and Millies Cookies were given away and Boost Juice Bar kept the crowds cool with a complimentary smoothie samples.

Sam Eastwood, Centre Director, said: “There was a wonderful celebratory feeling throughout the Centre all day and we were delighted with the level of support our local people gave to Dan. We are absolutely thrilled to have been part of his new world record, congratulations to him.”
