VOLUNTEERS WANTED FOR DINO EXHIBITION

There's a great opportunity to be part of a fantastic exhibition coming to Peterborough this summer... but you'll need to be brave enough to face a T. rex!

Peterborough Cathedral is recruiting volunteers to join the team when it hosts the Natural History Museum’s exhibition, T. rex: The Killer Question this summer.

Volunteers are needed to check tickets, welcome visitors and make sure they have the information they need to enjoy the exhibition, and help to sell dinosaur-related merchandise in the shop.

If you enjoy meeting people and would love to be part of this exciting project, or perhaps you're looking for some work experience, or are a student on vacation (minimum age 16 years) this could be just the role for you - and not many people can say they've worked with dinosaurs!

In all, as many as 30 volunteer sessions will be needed on the busiest days. The hours can be flexible to fit around other commitments and no specific knowledge or experience is needed as you'll be fully trained up.

It is expected that tens of thousands of people, especially families with children, will come to see this entertaining and engaging exhibition, which runs from July 18 until September 3. It includes roaring and moving animatronic dinosaurs, as well as a 12-metre-long static T. rex model and a life-size T. rex skeleton, and will be displayed in the transepts and at the east end of the historic Cathedral.

If you fancy getting involved you can attend one of three Recruitment Days to find out more and meet other potential volunteers. These will be held at the Cathedral at 6.30pm on Thursday May 12 and Wednesday June 8, or at 12 noon on Sunday June 19.

Alternatively, they can contact the Cathedral’s Volunteer Coordinator, Charlotte Amato-Gauci on 01733 355315 or email volunteer.coordinator@peterborough-cathedral.org.uk.

Charlotte said - “This is a really exciting volunteer opportunity and I think it will attract so many people, whether they are students on holiday, dinosaur enthusiasts, people looking for a new challenge, or people who want to meet new friends. It is an opportunity to learn new skills, and help to support your community.

“Volunteering at the Cathedral also means spending time in an awe-inspiring building. Without volunteers, we simply could not manage at the Cathedral, and we value their time greatly. Please get in touch if you have any questions, or would like to find out if it is the right opportunity for you.”
