Warm up your best singing voice, book the hairdressers, pop the champagne, get out your party dress and polish those dancing shoes.
Direct from the Edinburgh Festival, (and still feeling the buzz from Hugh Jackman’s blockbuster hit), The Lady Boys of Bangkok return to the Key Theatre in Peterborough with their new tour: ‘The Greatest Show Girls’.
This year, the diamond divas celebrate coming of age with their 21st consecutive year of touring. Their new show combines the glamour of Hollywood and the glitz of Las Vegas with the beloved traditions of classic British music hall in a mesmerizing spectacle fulfilling ‘A Million Dreams’ for everyone.
The Lady Boys of Bangkok, featuring a cast of all-male Thai nationals, includes more songs and big-scale musical production numbers than you could point a perfumed glove at. The show has sold out numerous times during their previous visits to the Key Theatre and aims to add a splash of colour to the black-and-white normality of everyday life. With glamorous new scenes, gorgeous spectacular costumes, choreography and, of course, its signature sense of humour, this year’s show promises to be cheekier, funnier and as glamorous as ever.
This year, the tour also introduces a special guest artiste from Great Yarmouth, Norfolk – ‘the world’s smallest drag queen’ – Mr Jamie John. Jamie joins the Lady Boys of Bangkok this year for a 9 month UK tour from March until November playing at over 50 theatres as well as 11 city centre sites in the Lady Boys’ own purpose built Sabai Theatre. Jamie is well known as a performer having appeared in the London Palladium 2018 panto, and with numerous TV and theatre credits to boot. Jamie also regularly performs across the country as the Diamond Diva drag queen ‘Miss DQ.’

Tour Manager Binky Beaumont says: “Our cast and crew were delighted when we heard about our return this year to this dazzling diamond of a theatre. It is such an important venue for us. We are always welcomed whenever we appear at Peterborough and we can’t wait to get back to see everyone.
“We guarantee the new production will get everyone dancing, laughing and singing along to all your favourite hits from all your favourite stars. Most of all it’s a complete celebration of individuality and pride in saying ‘This is Me’.”
The Lady Boys of Bangkok come to the Key Theatre on Monday October 28 for one night only. Tickets are available at www.vivacity.org or by calling the Key Theatre Box Office on 01733 207239.
