There are so many reasons why you might want to start a degree, from boosting your earnings potential, to pursuing a career that you’re passionate about.
Peterborough’s new university, ARU Peterborough, opened its doors this September and offers a wide variety of courses from business and law, to engineering and construction, as well as a range of Degree Apprenticeships and so much more.
Ever wondered if university could be for you? An open day is where you can find out.
Are you thinking of starting a degree? It can feel overwhelming when it comes to deciding which course and which university to apply to, as there are so many options. The good news is that you can explore them for yourself, so you can compare and make sure you choose the right one for you.
Every university will have a calendar of open days taking place throughout the year, they’re free and you can attend as many as you like.
What can I expect at an open day?
An open day is designed to give you a taste of what it would be like to study at a particular university. There will be a range of activities on the day, which might include a welcome talk, campus tour, talks about the courses and more.
You’ll get a chance to meet with lecturers and ask any questions you might have about the degree. Most universities will also have current students there on the day, so you can hear a first-hand account of their university experience.
As well as exploring the university, attending an open day gives you the opportunity to check out the local area. It’s important to find out if this is an area you would like to move to (or stay in), as it will be your home for a few years while you study.
