Is… DO talk about Cake Club! We’ve been keeping you informed about this great little group in Stamford – social gatherings and CAKE – what’s not to like?
The Stamford Clandestine Cake Club met on Sunday, June 2, in the background of the Victorian cricket festival on Stamford Meadows, for a cake picnic.
Every month, this group of amateur bakers meets to eat cake, talk about cake, and take cake home. June’s theme was ‘perfect for a picnic’ and cakes included Battenburg, raspberry Bakewell cake, toffee sponge, and a baked sultana cheesecake. Yum!!
With the gentle thwack of leather on willow in the background, a brass band playing nearby, and a fly past by a Lancaster, the club members bathed in the sunshine while enjoying a relaxed picnic.
“Sun, cake, conversation, and new friends – what a brilliant way to spend the afternoon,” organiser Sophie Douglas told ESP.
“We were pleased to be able to join in with the Victorian cricket event too. It was fun to hold our underground society in the background of such a fun Stamfordian event.”
New members are always welcome at Cake Club – all you need is a love of cakes and baking.
