SHOWCASE TEMPORARILY CLOSES PETERBOROUGH CINEMA DUE TO COVID-19 OUTBREAK

Peterborough cinema Showcase Cinema De Lux has temporarily closed – along with the rest of its cinemas in the UK – says American-based owner National Amusements.

The Boongate-based multiplex shut its doors at midnight on Tuesday in reaction to government Covid-19 virus guidelines – after already imposing its own restrictions for a maximum 50% per screen occupancy to help provide ‘social distancing’ for cinema-goers.

Major releases like the next James Bond adventure No Time to Die, Disney’s Mulan, horror A Quiet Place: Part II and juggernaut sequel F9: The Fast Saga had already postponed or moved their release dates to later in the year.

The highly-anticipated next Marvel blockbuster Black Widow followed suit on Tuesday night.

Which at the time of writing leaves Wonder Woman sequel 1984, as now the first major summer blockbuster ‘tentpole’ release pencilled in for June 6 – dependent on whether the Coronavirus pandemic is contained prior to that date.
