SHAUN THE SHEEP AR TRAIL REVIEW

ree

Peterborough has been taken over by one of the cheekiest sheep in showbiz!

I recently took my 6-year-old son along to try out the brand-new ‘Shaun the Sheep: Fun with the Flock A.R. Trail’ in the city centre, and it turned out to be one of the most fun, simple, and surprisingly active things we’ve done together in ages.

At just £3 to download, this interactive trail offers incredible value for money. Let’s be honest - entertaining the whole family for that amount these days is almost unheard of.

You simply download the ‘Fun with the Flock’ app and you’re good to go! There are nine hidden A.R. markers dotted around the city, and each one unlocks funny animated scenes, quirky sound effects, and silly challenges that had my son in fits of laughter. Whether we were playing ‘musical stat-ewes’ or helping Bitzer find the flock, the trail kept us both fully engaged. A couple of hours flew by!

But this isn’t just a walk around the block. The trail takes you all over central Peterborough – from Queensgate Shopping Centre to the iconic Peterborough Cathedral, the Lido, the Museum, and more. It’s the perfect mix of sightseeing, family fun, and exercise (sneakily disguised as a game, which is ideal if your child, like mine, isn’t a fan of long walks!).

One of the best parts? Seeing so many other families out enjoying it too. Everywhere we went, we bumped into other kids excitedly scanning trail markers and posing for selfies with Shaun and his pals. It felt like the whole city had come together for a shared experience. That sense of community spirit – smiling strangers, parents chatting, kids comparing notes – really made the day feel extra special.

And if you’re up for even more Shaun-themed fun, don’t miss the ‘Find the Flock’ sculpture trail. Twelve larger-than-life Shaun the Sheep statues (each a whopping 160cm tall!) are waiting to be found. Each one’s been painted by a different artist and they’re genuinely impressive. You can pick up a trail map from Queensgate or the Cathedral and, once you've found them all, enter to win some great prizes.

With the school holidays in full swing and the weather (hopefully) playing ball, this is exactly the kind of affordable, feel-good event we need right now.

Whether you're a long-time Shaun fan or just looking for something fresh to do with the kids, I highly recommend giving it a go. For £3?

The trail runs until August 31. You'd be baaaaaa-rmy to miss it!
