Former Sawtry College student turned actor Tyler Fayose has grabbed himself a new role at none other than the Globe theatre in London!
You may recognise 26-year-old Tyler as a familiar face having modelled in several of our ESP fashion shoots and we’ve been keeping an eye on his acting career.
It’s fantastic to see him getting some breaks and fingers crossed this will be a step in the right direction and bring us another famous face from Peterborough!
Tyler plays both Lorenzo and Morocco in a thrilling, modern production of The Merchant of Venice opening on Thursday March 6 as part of the flagship project from Globe Education at Shakespeare’s Globe, running until Saturday March 29.
Playing Shakespeare with Deutsche Bank is Globe Education’s highly acclaimed annual project for 11 to 16 year olds. Each year, a Shakespeare play is commissioned especially to engage teenage students. Performed by Globe actors on the Globe stage, the production is fast-paced, designed for young viewers and retains Shakespeare’s language, appealing to people of all ages.
Free tickets are being offered to every London state secondary school for performances on weekdays from March 6 to 20. Members of the public are able to apply for free tickets for three special Saturday performances at 2pm on March 8, 22 and 29. You can book or find out more on www.playingshakespeare.org
It’s set in modern day Venice with contemporary styling and kicks off with a modern chart song which should grab everyone’s attention!
It’s always prestigious for any actor to perform Shakespeare and Tyler told ESP he’s delighted to gain a professional role – “Shakespeare’s always been a challenge for me, a bit of a weak spot, but it was something I’d always aspired to do. It’s massive – there is this gravitas to playing Shakespearian roles and to perform at the Globe speaks for itself. It’s a big step and definitely good on the CV – it puts you in a different class as an actor.”
But that’s not all, Tyler also has another project he’s working on called The Method of Love led by Charles ‘Chucky’ Venn, who Eastenders fans will recognise as character Ray Dixon.
The pilot episode has just had a screening in London and now it’s fingers crossed they can get funding to produce the rest of the series which is ready and written.
It’s Charles Venn’s concept, he plays the lead and produced it and Caroline Chinakwe is the writer. Tyler says it’s been great being involved – “I was lucky to know Chucky Venn and he wanted me to come on board.
“It’s been really enjoyable working with someone so enthusiastic about something – it inspires you to be equally passionate. I just hope it goes somewhere.”
Charles plays the main character Chris who’s basically addicted to sex but wants a soul mate, while his brother Nico, played by Tyler is addicted to love itself. It was timely then that the pilot episode was screened online on Valentine’s Day and you can watch it on www.themethodoflove.com
Tyler has a film, Skybound, due for release too and after making an appearance in Casualty last year we’re hoping he’ll follow in the footsteps of Peterborough actor Luke Pasqualino who’s currently appearing in the BBC One Sunday night drama The Musketeers after getting his big break as Freddie in Channel 4’s Skins.
