We love some good news so forget the doom and gloom – Queensgate’s seen an increase in shoppers!
Since opening six month’s ago, Queensgate’s new Primark store has continued to go from strength to strength, drawing in thousands of shoppers from Peterborough and the rest of the surrounding region.

Centre director Sam Eastwood told ESP – “Since Primark opened in November last year, Queensgate has seen an incredible four per cent rise in footfall across the entire centre. Even more encouragingly, around ten per cent of these visitors are new to the city itself, which we hope will be a real boost for the region’s retailers. With an opening day that saw 54,000 shoppers through its doors, we always knew that Primark would be a roaring success.
“The fact that Primark is drawing people in from such a wide catchment area, as well as many new people now choosing to visit Peterborough specifically to shop there, proves that the £20million investment really has paid dividends. Understandably we are thrilled with how successful the new store has been and the impact it has had on the centre as a whole.”
Sam also tells us they’ve seen continued success with the opening of Italian eatery Carluccio’s, further enhancing the growing café culture in Cathedral Square.
“The restaurant has proved a real hit with Queensgate’s shoppers, adding to Peterborough’s extensive food offer, which we believe will prove to be especially popular with our customers over the warmer summer months.”
It’s been good to see retailers investing more in the centre with Topshop opting to extend its unit last year and OFFICE and Burger King also opening.
The centre’s four car parks are also being refurbished and Blue car park will re-open later this year. They’re hoping to attract more new retailers to the centre over the coming months and there’s an exciting fashion weekend coming up in September which ESP will have more news on very soon.
