Peterborough local radio station, PCR 103.2fm, is about to get a revamp and a new sound with presenters 24 hours a day for the first time since its launch.

PCRfm launched in April 2017 with the aim of keeping radio ‘local’ as many of the city’s radio stations disappeared from the airwaves or reduced their Peterborough content.

The city radio station pledges to provide news, travel and information for Peterborough, as well as listing various local events. Now a new head of programming is reshaping the sound of the station and a new schedule is set to launch on August 1.

After working with PCR 103.2fm for the last couple of years, Chris Tibbles has recently become the Head of Programming with an aim to build on what the station has already established.

“Since taking over the role I have set about making some changes to the music so that every song we play will be instantly recognisable,” said Chris. “Our core playlist will feature the biggest songs from the 70’s to the best of today, along with the odd classic from the 1960’s thrown in for good measure.

“I am also introducing some new programmes that will see the station have presenters 24 hours a day for the first time since its launch. As well as favourites such as ‘Saturday with Keith Dalton & Claire Todd’, ‘Drivetime with Craig Bunday’ and ‘David Hamilton’s Million Sellers’ I have also brought Mikey Faulkner, Simon Rowe and Andy Henly to the team.”

The radio station based at the Herlington Centre in Orton Malbourne will continue to broadcast specialist programmes in the evenings with some of them showcasing the best in live local music. The changes to the station will launch with the new schedule on Saturday August 1.

ESP’s live music columnist and former Lite FM presenter Keith Dalton can be heard every Saturday on the station with his regular broadcasting partner Claire Todd from 10am – 1pm; once a month ESP’s Man About Town, Pep Cipriano drops by to join them for a chat.
