PETERBOROUGH LIDO OPEN FOR NEW SUMMER SEASON

Peterborough’s much-loved Lido has opened its doors for the summer season with the Mayor of Peterborough cutting the ribbon to let customers in and around 700 visitors enjoyed a day of free swimming.

Steve, Vivacity’s general manager said “We would like to thank Peterborough City Council for their continued support and investment in to the Lido and we are excited for another summer season. Our staff started working on the Lido in January and the Friends Of Peterborough Lido recruited volunteers for additional support. We have extended the cafe and it’s offering to include healthier food and vegetarian options. We hope to see you all there.”

The Lido has three heated, outdoor pools; a large 50m main pool with an opportunity for lane swimming and family splash, a learner pool for children and a paddling pool for toddlers. There’s also an outdoor café (recently extended), children’s play area, family picnic lawn and terraces with views of Peterborough Cathedral.

The Lido is open Monday – Sunday. Normal opening hours are 9am – 7pm with the exception of Wednesdays and Sundays, which open at 7.30am giving early bird swimmers the chance to use the pool earlier than usual. Prices start from £4.30 for children under 16 and £5.40 for adults.

There are plenty of events to get involved in this season at the Lido, including the return of ‘Summer Solstice.’ There is a breakfast swim including breakfast between 4.45am – 6.45am at £12.50 and a Sunset & Midnight swim including dinner between 8pm – 12.30am at £17.50.

This year, you can get involved in Peterborough Pride swims, including a transgender & non-binary session and a LGBTQIA session. Plus, there’ll be midnight swim sessions on Friday July 12 and Friday August 9 between 9.30pm and 12.30am.
