PETERBOROUGH INTERNATIONAL WOMEN'S CHORAL FESTIVAL


Peterborough Cathedral will be filled with beautiful voices from around the world when the International Women's Choral Festival takes place on Saturday.


Peterborough Sings will proudly present its spectacular Gala Concert at the city’s iconic Cathedral and this prestigious event serves as the grand finale of the festival on Saturday 17 June at 7pm.



The Peterborough International Women's Choral Festival is an esteemed celebration of women's choirs from around the globe, honouring their artistry and achievements. Through concerts, competitions and workshops, the festival aims to promote diversity, cultural exchange and the empowerment of women in the realm of choral music.


This evening will unite women's choirs from various countries, showcasing their exceptional talent and musical prowess. The Gala Concert will feature exclusive premieres of new compositions specifically crafted for upper voices by acclaimed composers Joan Szymko, Marie-Claire Saindon and Cheryl Frances-Hoad, adding an innovative and thrilling element to the performance.



Councillor Marco Cereste, Cabinet Member for Growth and Regeneration, said – "The Cathedral provides the perfect setting for this event, combining magnificent harmonies with a stunning backdrop.


“As a city, we are privileged to have the opportunity to host such an inspiring occasion. We are also delighted to share these beautiful voices with the general public.


“After their performances, the choirs will proceed to the Guild Hall, where they will serenade passers-by. Peterborough has always been a welcoming city to people from all around the world and we extend our best wishes for success to all the competitors participating this weekend."
