Did you hear the New Theatre Youth Academy perform on the steps of the Peterborough theatre on Broadway?
Young stars of the future showcased their talents outside the Peterborough New Theatre on Thursday with a special performance to mark the end of term.
The New Theatre’s Youth Academy entertained passers by as took to the theatre’s steps on Thursday to perform, with social distancing, a selection of Christmas songs, bringing some festive cheer to Peterborough.
During a year which has seen the closure of the vibrant local venue, which included the cancellation of the annual pantomime, the venue’s team members were also invited to join the Academy’s performers and bring some Christmas magic to the theatre and Peterborough.
The New Theatre Youth Academy is a collaboration between the theatre and Top Theatre Productions, and gives children aged 7-18 years old the chance to learn theatre skills based at the City’s prestigious New Theatre.
Classes take place each week in stage craft, acting, singing, performance skills and dancing, led by experienced tutors as well as guest teachers from the theatre world. Students also get the chance to take part in master classes from West End professionals, many of whom have performed on stage in productions such as Fame and Madagascar.
