NEW ONLINE GIFT SHOP PROMOTES PETERBOROUGH AND ITS ARTISTS

Peterborough has received an online promotional boost with the launch of a new website dedicated to selling city souvenirs and items by local artists.

It’s been set up to raise the city’s profile alongside the Visit Peterborough website, www.visitpeterborough.com,  as Peterborough seeks to attract more visitors in future and to meet increased demand for online shopping.

The Visitor Information Centre on Bridge Street which stocked many Peterborough souvenirs as well as displays and products by local artists was closed several months ago. Some of the information materials were transferred inside the Town Hall but the lockdown again limited availability.

Now Peterborough branded souvenirs and local artworks will be more widely available once again through www.peterboroughgiftshop.com.

Tracy Snooks (pictured below) told ESP – “The shop is intended eventually to provide something for everyone and to create an opportunity where artists and makers can show their talents.

“The title ‘peterboroughgiftshop’ is intentional as we want it to become the ‘go to’ shop for Peterborough gifts.

“We intend to showcase the diverse creative and community enterprises on behalf of Peterborough and tell the stories behind the artists involved.”

Local artists including Tony Nero and Roland Burt, blacksmith John Downing, street photographer Chris Porsz and glassmaker Brian Withall are among those already featured.

The idea for the website came from Tracy Snooks the Peterborough Information Manager at Peterborough City Council in partnership with Chris Lane from Artinfusion (pictured above) and social media promotion by Jackie Hall.

The team are keen to make sure Peterborough’s online profile is developed but are also working to put products in concessions around the city as well.

Items are being posted out or there is a click and collect service available as well.

ESP is always keen to support local talent and shout about what Peterborough has to offer. We are backing the project and will be featuring many of the artists on this website, sharing their talents and telling their stories over the coming weeks.

So, take a look at www.peterboroughgiftshop.com and see what takes your fancy, there are some great gifts available by some fantastic local talent.
