Great news for shoppers as Queensgate introduces Friday late night shopping!
Starting on Friday August 2, Queensgate will now be open until 8pm every Friday, givinh us the luxury of picking up all of the weekend’s essentials after work.
The decision is supported by all of Queensgate’s 90 retailers, including M&S, Primark, Waitrose, Fat Face and OFFICE shoes, who have all chosen to open for longer each Friday, with John Lewis joining in from Friday October 4 onwards.
The centre has launched the new extended opening hours following a surge in demand from visitors, who want greater shopping flexibility over the weekend. Since the launch of Primark, the centre has seen an influx of people from the wider catchment area that are now choosing to visit Queensgate and Peterborough, discovering the vast array of shops and eateries the city has to offer.
Sam Eastwood, centre director at Queensgate, told ESP – “With the longer summer evenings stretching ahead of us, August is the perfect time to launch our new extended Friday evening opening hours. We are thrilled that all of our retailers have wholeheartedly embraced the changes, as we believe the extra trading time will have a positive impact on both the centre and Peterborough city centre as a whole.
“The extended hours, coupled with the al fresco dining experience that Cathedral Square offers, means that visitors really can get the most out of their weekends from now on.
“Since the arrival of Primark, Queensgate has seen an impressive four per cent rise in footfall throughout the centre, ten per cent of which are people new to the area. We hope that by introducing longer trading hours on a Friday, we will see these encouraging figures continue to increase and draw in even more regional visitors.”
Kate Hampton at John Lewis, adds: “We are delighted to be joining Queensgate on the 4th October in extending our opening hours. We will be holding an event on this date to mark the occasion, to say thank you to our customers for shopping with us and we are very pleased that retailers in Queensgate are working together to ensure we continue to look for ways to make shopping easier and as convenient as possible.”
