LOCAL TALENT ON SHOW @ THE KEY

We have some great local talent here in Peterborough and two local theatre groups are getting ready to entertain you!

Westwood Musical Society and Peterborough Operatic and Dramatic Society are returning to the Key Theatre with a new selection of great musicals.

Westwood Musical Society presents the classic Broadway musical Sweet Charity, running from Tuesday March 25 – Saturday March 29 (at 7.30pm, plus 2.30pm on Saturday). New York dance hall girl Charity Hope Valentine hasn’t had much luck with relationships, but when she meets Oscar it seems her fortune may have turned on its head. Will Charity live happily ever after? Or will her luck run out?

Featuring iconic musical numbers including Big Spender, If My Friends Could See Me Now and The Rhythm of Life, the Westwood production will take you back to the heady days and nights of the sixties. Directed by Lesley Gramegna, with Musical Direction by Andrew Brown, the Broadway favourite has been brought up to date for contemporary audiences and will be sure to sparkle! Previous productions by Westwood Musical Society have received rave reviews, such as Beauty and the Beast – “From start to finish it was a magical and captivating experience” (NODA). Last year the company brought Oliver! to the Key, which was a sell-out success. Tickets for Sweet Charity are priced at £15 with £12.50 concessions available for the Tuesday performance and the Saturday matinée.

Key Theatre veterans Peterborough Operatic and Dramatic Society bring the magical The Witches of Eastwick to the stage from Tuesday April 8 – Saturday April 12 (7.30pm, plus 2.30pm on Saturday). Expect plenty of mayhem as three divorced housewives get more than they bargained for when they wish on the moon for the perfect man! Prepare to be spellbound by the frenzy that ensues…

Peterborough Operatic and Dramatic Society won the award for Best Musical at the National Operatic and Dramatic Association East Awards in 2011 and 2012, for their productions of Oklahoma! and My Fair Lady respectively. Be sure to book early for The Witches of Eastwick so not to miss out! Tickets are priced at £15, with £13 concessions available or per person for groups of 10 or more.
