LOCAL HERO LOUIS SMITH SET TO RETURN TO PETERBOROUGH STAGE

Peterborough’s own Louis Smith and Love Island’s Amber Davies are set to star in Bring It On The Musical!

Local hero, Olympian and Strictly winner Louis will appear at the New Theatre in Selladoor’s production of the smash-hit musical, Bring It On, which will be back-flipping its way to Peterborough in August.

Starring in this cheertastic production as Cameron, will be local lad and Olympic champion Louis Smith MBE. The Olympic and world medallist shot to fame after he won a bronze medal in the Beijing Olympics in 2008, the first time a British gymnast had won an Olympic medal for decades. Following his stellar athletic career and after joining Team GB for the 2012 Olympics, Louis received an MBE in the 2013 New Year honours list for his services to gymnastics. He was also the winner of the 2012 series of BBC’s Strictly Come Dancing and he lifted the Glitterball trophy with his professional dance partner Flavia Cacace.

We can’t wait to see Louis back at the New Theatre after he visited in September 2019 with the fantastic touring production of Rip It Up the 70s, alongside Lee Ryan, Rachel Stevens and Melody Thornton.

Joining Louis Smith on the stage will be West End star and Love Island winner Amber Davies who will be starring as Campbell. Amber rose to fame in 2017 after she was crowned the winner of Love Island alongside her former boyfriend Kem Cetinay. Amber trained in theatre and dance and she graduated with a Diploma in Musical Theatre from the Urdang Academy. In 2018 Amber landed a starring role as Judy Bernly in Dolly Parton’s West End hit, 9 to 5 The Musical, which was inspired the film of the same name.

Inspired by the film of the same name, Bring It On The Musical takes you on a high-flying, energy fuelled journey which tackles friendship, jealousy, betrayal and forgiveness – wrapped up in explosive choreography and tricks. Bring It On is produced by Selladoor Productions (FLASHDANCE, AVENUE Q) and is written by Tony Award Winners Lin-Manuel Miranda (HAMILTON), Jeff Whitty (AVENUE Q) Tom Kitt (GREASE: LIVE) and lyricist Amanda Green (HIGH FIDELITY).

Bring It On will be at the New Theatre Peterborough from Tuesday August 18 – Saturday August 22 with tickets ranging from £19.00 – £42.00. Tickets are on sale now so grab your pompoms and book your tickets at www.newtheatre-peterborough.com or through the box office on 01733 852992.
