IT’S NOT HUMBUG, SCROOGE IS COMING TO PETERBOROUGH’S KEY THEATRE!

When it comes to festive theatre there’s only one Scrooge – no literally, in this Peterborough performance there is only one actor!

Here at ESP we love the team from Peterborough based Lamphouse Theatre and this year they’ve brought us some great online entertainment during lockdown but now they’re back on stage, live at the Key Theatre this December.

The talented bunch have taken social distancing to a whole new level as only they can, and will be staging their production of A Christmas Carol, Dickens’ classic story of festive redemption, with one actor playing all of the roles.

Everyone’s been longing to get back into the theatre and as Peterborough is in tier two it means their brand new, comedy and music packed version of A Christmas Carol will go ahead live at the Key Theatre from December 15 – 24.

Just one performer will tell the whole story, playing all the parts, singing all the songs and doing all the dance moves. It’s a mammoth feat, which will be full of super speedy costume changes, toe tapping tunes and most importantly, lots and lots of laughs.

Producer Becky Owen-Fisher says – “After the year we’ve all had, we’re really feeling the need for some festive cheer. Our one man version of A Christmas Carol is full of Christmas spirit – we’ve used every trick in the book to make a fantastically funny show. Expect unforgettable tunes, stand up comedy, puppetry, tricks, and of course a bit of magic!

“We’ll be performing 16 shows at the Key Theatre, with mid morning shows, matinees and evening shows, so there’s a time to suit everyone.

“The Key Theatre is working really hard to make sure audiences feel safe and secure in the venue. Seating is all socially distanced, and people should book in household groups.”

Lamphouse are doing everything they can to make sure the show will go on. There are two actors performing on alternate nights, isolating from one another during the shows to make sure there’s always someone available to keep A Christmas Carol on stage. This means you can Choose Your Scrooge!

If you can’t get to the theatre this month though or fancy staying at home, you can still catch this festive extravaganza. A Christmas Carol will be available to watch online from December 28th to the 30th, a perfect way to spend those days in between Christmas and New Year.

Tickets for the live shows are £10 for adults and £7 for children, or £30 for families and can be booked now via the Key Theatre box office on 01733 207239 or online at www.vivacity.org. If the shows can’t go ahead for any reason ticket holders will be given the option to watch the show online instead or to receive a full refund.

Tickets for the online shows are £10 for a individual or £15 for a household and can be booked online at www.theplacebedford.org.uk
