HOUSE PROUD RETURNS FOR BANK HOLIDAY VIBES AT THE SOLSTICE IN PETERBOROUGH

This bank holiday is going to be a big one as the Peterborough nightlife scene welcomes the return of House Proud!

House Proud presents DEL-30, C.O.Z, Russell James & Martin Smith at The Solstice on Northminster on August Bank Holiday Sunday August 25 from 9pm til 4am.

House Proud has been a huge part of the Peterborough scene over the years, but after taking a bit of a break DJ Russell James and the guys are making a very welcome return.

House Proud actually launched way back in 2007 at Mission nightclub in Leeds. The original venue Northern Light was forced to close their doors days before the event. Thanks to some very generous people the party still went ahead, and they’ve not looked back.

They took residency at The Runaway Girl in Sheffield, hosted events across the country including Sankeys in Manchester before finally heading to The Solstice in Peterborough which they now call home.

ESP caught up with Russell for an update…

ESP – Why are you heading back onto the scene now?

Russell James“Taking a step back from the music scene allowed me to focus on areas of my life that I had neglected. The venue has been very understanding throughout the process. The number of messages I received online is overwhelming and has been a real motivation in bringing the event back. I’ve taken the time needed to regroup and now feel I can give House Proud my full attention.”

What can we expect from the new-look House Proud – any changes?

“We’ve tried not to change what we do as it works. House Proud will still have that feel-good vibe we have created over the years where people can come and be themselves and let go on the dancefloor.”

Why do you think House Proud has remained so popular over the years?

“The residents (Drew Tilney & Martin Smith) work hard to keep their sound fresh. The headline acts are booked to compliment this. We all work together to put the music first as that’s the most important thing.”

Has the scene changed much?

“The scene is forever changing. There’s not a lot you can do about it. You have to embrace what’s happening and move with the times. That’s how we’ve managed to stay relevant for over 12 years.”

Who would love House Proud and who should come to one of your events?

“House Proud is the perfect night for anybody who loves house and techno. We ask you to leave your egos at the door to come together for a night of incredible music and positive vibes.”
