HELP TO QUIT

Peterborough smokers encouraged to visit stop smoking campervan.

Stop smoking specialists will be helping Peterborough residents to become happy campers, as they give stop smoking support from a campervan around the city over the next week.

In the lead up to National No Smoking Day on Wednesday March 13, the campervan will be placed at various locations in the city from Queensgate Centre to Serpentine Green, and outside the Town Hall to POSH football ground.  On board  the campervan will be stop smoking specialists from NHS Peterborough ready to help and give advice to anyone who wants to stop smoking and refer them into a service of their choice.  The stop smoking campervan is all part of the national No Smoking Day campaign to help people stop smoking this March and take that first step to living a healthier lifestyle.

The campervan will be at the following locations: *           Queensgate (outside Boots), on Thursday March 7 from 10am-8pm. *           Serpentine Green Shopping Centre, Hampton on Friday March 8 from 10am-7pm *           Queensgate (outside Boots), on Saturday March 9 from 10pm-5pm *           POSH Ground Car Boot, London Road on Sunday March 10 from 8am-12pm *           Peterborough Town Hall on Monday March 11 from 9am-5pm *           Peterborough Regional College, Park Crescent on Tuesday March 12 from 10am-4pm *           Peterborough Town Hall (front) Wednesday March 13 from 9am-5pm

Cheryl McGuire, Live Healthy Senior Specialist (Smoke Free) told ESP – “If you see our campervan over the coming week, please pop by and say hi. We have room on board to do consultations and have everything you need to help you take that first step towards stopping smoking.

“You are four times as likely to succeed in stopping smoking with help as willpower alone isn’t always enough. Stopping smoking is the biggest change you can make which will result in a healthier and longer life. We can provide help in a location that suits you; your GP practice, at work, over the phone or at your local pharmacy.”

In addition to the Campervan, a number of major employers in the city will be hosting No Smoking Day support stands on Wednesday  March 13 providing help and advice for employees and visitors who want to stop smoking.
