GIFT TREE @ QUEENSGATE HELPS LOCAL FAMILIES

Here’s your chance to get the Christmas feelgood factor and help local families have a fantastic Christmas…

In true festive spirit, Queensgate Shopping Centre is working together with local charity, Spurgeons, to make sure young families in Peterborough receive a gift this Christmas. The Queensgate Gift Tree is returning and is available to donate to now.

Last year, over 800 people generously donated presents to The Queensgate Gift Tree. This year, there are over 1,000 tags waiting to make it on to the tree. Each tag means one child will receive a gift this Christmas.

Shoppers are invited to take a tag from the tree which will be situated at the customer information desk on the upper mall. Each tag represents a child that Spurgeons works with; it is either pink for a girl or blue for a boy, with the child’s age on it. Shoppers can choose a tag and buy a present for that child, then hand it in at the information desk unwrapped. The final day for donations is Sunday December 21 so that Spurgeons can ensure all gifts are beautifully wrapped and ready to be delivered in time for the children to open on Christmas Day.

Sam Eastwood, Centre Director at Queensgate Shopping Centre, said: “We are all very excited to see the return of The Queensgate Gift Tree. We believe that every child deserves to have something to smile about at Christmas and we’re thrilled to be a part of such a wonderful cause.”

Sally Chalfont, Community Engagement and Volunteer Co-ordinator for Spurgeons, said: “We are delighted that Queensgate has kindly chosen the Spurgeons children’s centres in Peterborough to benefit from The Queensgate Gift Tree. The gifts will be distributed by our team of family support workers who support children, young people and their families across the Peterborough area and will be very gratefully received.”

Spurgeons is a national children’s charity supporting children and their families for almost 150 years. Spurgeons delivers around 100 services across the Country, including children’s centres and projects to support young carers, teenage parents, and children and young people.
