The newly refurbished Fayre Spot pub at The Cresset in Bretton is all set to start offering food all day.
From Monday October 15 they’re extending food service right through until 8.30pm so whether you fancy breakfast, lunch or tea you can ditch the oven gloves and let their team do it for you.
Jon Cooper is the new Kitchen Manager for The Cresset, with overall responsibility for food delivery in The Fayre Spot as well as for all conference and banqueting events. He brings with him 27 years of experience in the industry and told ESP he’s looking forward to developing the food offer across all the different catering aspects of The Cresset.
“The Fayre Spot has just had a £250k refurbishment and looks fantastic so it’s a great opportunity to refresh the menus and try new things.
“Conference and banqueting is a big part of the business, we can cater for hundreds of guests in a day, so it’s exciting to be working on new menus and ideas with the team to try and offer something new for our guests.
“It’s a really interesting place to work, and I’m really enjoying the diversity of the role, from catering for the elderly persons day centre, to delivering wedding breakfasts and pre-show supper meals for theatre audiences, every day is different.
“Overall I’m really excited to be giving The Cresset an identity, and putting my own stamp on the food.”
So what can we expect from the new menu when it launches this month?
“Some of the traditional pub favourites of course,” says Jon, “including hand battered fish & chips and a really good homemade lasagne, as well as some great grill dishes and interesting lunch options.
“We’ll be doing as much as we can fresh, we’re cooking our own ham, working with local suppliers to get fantastic quality ingredients, and trying to offer something a bit different to the usual pub chains.
“Plus some new dishes, including belly of pork, lamb shank, and pasta with meatballs. Look out for The Fayre Spot Burger!”
And if you happen to hear some rock ‘n’ roll coming from the kitchen it’ll just be Jon’s favourite cooking playlist…
“I’m a massive Elvis fan – much to my wife’s disgust, but the King always provides the best soundtrack!”
