CLASSIC CAR SHOW RETURNS TO THE CITY

Registration is now open for owners of classic and vintage vehicles to sign up for the third Peterborough Classic and Vintage Vehicle show.

Last September saw more than 450 vehicles on show at the Embankment, and the organisers hope to break all records with the 2016 event.

Taking place on Saturday September 3 and Sunday September 4, the show is open to classic and vintage cars, caravans, motorcycles, scooters, commercial and agricultural vehicles, buses, and ex-military transport.

Councillor Paula Thacker MBE, who had the original idea for the show, said: “The array of vintage cars and buses parked on the Embankment really is a dazzling sight. Last year thousands of visitors, young and old, had a fabulous day out and the 2016 event promises to be even bigger and better.

“We’d love the show to become the biggest in East Anglia, so if you own a classic car please sign up and join us.”

Last year’s attracted many owners clubs, including Jaguar, Triumph, Volkswagen, MG, Mini and Ford. The variety of vehicles ranged from Ferraris and Rolls Royces to Morris Minors and Ford Anglias.

Annette Joyce, service director for city services and communications at Peterborough City Council, added: “We’re excited to be supporting this show for the third time. It’s a superb, family friendly event and there will be plenty of entertainment so that visitors can make a real day of it.”

The event, which is free to attend, will also feature a host of shopping opportunities, hot food stalls and a fun fair.

Proceeds from the sale of the show’s programme will be split between charities East Anglian Air Ambulance and Pancreatic Cancer Research Fund.

The show is open to the public from 10.30am on both Saturday and Sunday, vehicle owners can access the site from 7am on both days but must be parked by 9.15am.
