Market Deeping war veteran Cassidy Little is celebrating winning the first ever People’s Strictly dance competition.

Cassidy, who lost the lower part of his right leg in an explosion during a tour of Afghanistan had scored 4 tens from the judges in the competition which was a fundraiser for Comic Relief.

The 33 year-old Royal Marine and his professional dance partner Natalie Lowe performed a stunning Paso Doble and following a public vote they were declared the overall winners against five other couples.

They were presented with the famous glitterball trophy during the Face the Funny Comic Relief TV show.

The show was the first time the Strictly Come Dancing format had been rolled out to the general public and all the contestants were local heroes nominated to take part because of their work in the community and for helping charities.

Cassidy certainly did Peterborough proud and joins city gymnast Louis Smith as a Strictly champion. This city has got the moves!
