BOXERS PUT ON A SHOW AHEAD OF SATURDAY FIGHT FEAST

City fighters have been warming up for the first professional boxing show of the year at Peterborough Arena on Saturday February 2 with an exhibition of pad work and training in Queensgate Shopping Centre.

Peterborough’s Cello Renda – defending his International Masters title at Friday’s show – was joined by Sam Barron (pictured doing pads with his dad) and fighters from Vic’s Gym as they gave shoppers a demonstration of what’s to come in a few days time.

Super middleweight Sam from Eye has been trained by his dad Gary who knows a thing or two about being in the professional ranks after a career in the late 80s and early 90s. Friday will be Sam’s first professional fight and tickets for his debut have been selling fast.

Eight other lads are set to feature at the Arena including St Ives puncher Tommy Martin looking to make it two wins in two and crowd pleaser Jamie Spence.

The evening will also see Karl Wheeler introduced to the crowd before the action begins. Karl will be officially announcing his comeback after a broken hand signalled a five year spell away from the sport. His comeback, which will most probably take place in London this April, will be televised by Eurosport.

For Saturday tickets or to reserve places to see Karl Wheeler’s comeback, call Vic on: 07595 167679.
