Landlady Lesley Newitt is about to celebrate her first year in charge at The Bluebell pub in Helpston with some special events.
As well as renovating this traditional country pub last year she’s introduced a delicious menu and the pub serves a range of artisan beers including their own ’10 Woodgate’ ale plus barista coffees and teas.
They always have a lively diary of events including wine and dine evenings, quizzes, charity events and live music there’s plenty coming up with the next event a 1940s themed one.
Amanda and Steve of the 40’s Home Front are hosting an afternoon and evening of musical entertainment on Saturday June 6 from 4pm.
Reminisce over music from a bygone area, join in with a sing-along, have a dance or just relax and enjoy afternoon tea served on vintage china of course!
There will also be a delicious evening buffet included in the ticket price of £15.
You can get into the full spirit of the event dressing in 1940’s gear but it’s not essential.
Then it’s time for the pub’s birthday bash over the weekend of Friday July 3-5.
It’s a weekend of fun to celebrate Lesley’s first year as landlady and things kick off on the Friday with a Beer Bash – there’ll be 12 or more real ales on tap from quirkily named brews to award winners so plenty to kickstart the weekend.
Then it’s the Backyard BBQ from 1pm on the Saturday followed by a 1970s themed party night from 7.30pm. Dress up if you like and get your boogie shoes on to work your way through from Saturday Night Fever to Dancing Queen all in one evening.
The fun rounds up on Sunday July 5 with roast dinners served from 12 – 4 and music with Steve Bean who’ll be playing a acoustic set from 4pm.
