It’s felt like a long time coming but at last we’re able to return to enjoying films the way we should – on the big screen – and ESP’s film critic Gavin Miller was among the first to return to Peterborough’s Showcase Cinema De Lux.
During lockdown he’s been keeping a close eye on movies on the small screen but told us it was a real treat to finally walk through those doors once again, grab the popcorn and settle back into a giant chair to lap up the great sound and vision of the unique cinema experience.
The Peterborough Showcase Cinema De Lux has reopened with strict Covid measures in place so you can feel reassured about safety from the moment you walk up to the entrance.
Once inside you’re greeted with an array of safety precautions to ensure everyone can enjoy a trip to the cinema once again whilst limiting any risks.
From electronic temperature testing to pre-ordered food and drink collection, limited numbers in the loos and well spaced queuing areas it’s all very thorough.
Gavin couldn’t wait to return to the Peterborough cinema and told ESP – “It was great to be back – I was there on the very first day and it was their second biggest audience attendance since the pandemic began which is an encouraging sign of just how much people wanted to get back to the cinema.
“Now the vaccinations are rolling out and there seems to be a renewed confidence in the film industry, it’s all good news with some exciting new releases on the way.”
Gavin told us there’s no need to be concerned about heading to the cinema – “For that extra bit of reassurance there are the very best sanitisation (including air purifying systems and non-chemical anti-viral spray on seating) and social distancing measures – with two seat gaps between parties of 1-6 people – in place with their ‘Be Showcase Safe’ policy.”
