BEAUTY BOOST AT PETERBOROUGH HAIR SALON

A beauty evening at a Peterborough salon proved so successful the team is set to hold another in December as the business continues to grow.

Young local entrepreneur Ellen Steadman launched her business Steadman & Co at the PE1 Retail Park just prior to lockdown, creating a stylish new hair salon including a specialist beauty room.

Since the restrictions lifted and the salon could open properly both aspects of the business have got off to a fantastic start and a recent aesthetics evening was a huge success.

The night featured ES Beauty Therapy, Rejuvenage Aesthetics, LULA Belle Boutique, FM Fragrances and many more and due to popular demand another will be held in December with limited numbers as before.

There will also be another Rejuvenage aesthetics clinic at the salon in November.

The Beauty Room at Steadman & Co has become an established part of this new independent business set up by Ellen Steadman.

Beauty therapist Emily is on hand full time offering a range of Environ treatments, massages, facials and doing nails so that clients can enjoy the full pampering experience – some even while you’re having your hair done if you want the full TLC during a visit.

“It’s a great way to help those clients who are always on the go,” says Emily. “It enables them to utilise the spare time whilst their hair colour is processing!

“The most popular treatments our clients love in this situation is getting their nails done with our amazing Gel Bottle Inc range which is chip-resistant, offers extremely long lasting shine and it’s vegan and cruelty free.”

For a dedicated beauty session though, Emily says the salon’s specialist Environ skin treatments are in demand.

“Your skin requires time and patience, however, our medical grade Environ skincare range automatically makes the appearance of your skin better, and it actually kick starts your skin to be better. The reason we love Environ is because, it’s not just skin care, it is science!”

Having opened in the most challenging of circumstances, owner Ellen Steadman told ESP they’re doing everything they can to build up the business – “We have tried exceptionally hard to listen to our clients, what they enjoy, what they like and ultimately what would make the best hairdressing experience for them. We extended our opening hours to accommodate more clients, expanded our team and made sure we have 100% happy clients when they leave us.

“We’ve also made sure to provide a relaxing, luxurious vibe to the salon, and have worked with surrounding businesses to provide details down to the smallest things – like Alice Bakes Cakes – what girl doesn’t love getting a new trim and colour, a head massage, cup of coffee and then a delicious bite of cake!”

Beauty expert Emily says the combination of hair and beauty treatments in one salon has proved really popular.

“We receive great feedback about how luxurious and professional the whole salon is and how my specific Beauty Room is private yet cosy. We offer such a wide range of treatments that it’s hard to pick a popular service, however our clients do love our monthly offers which help clients take that first step in experiencing a new treatment.”

We love to celebrate local achievements at ESP and independents like this salon have certainly had a lot to battle with but are a great example of how it’s possible to find a positive way through.

The team says Peterborough people supporting local businesses is crucial.

“We had a lot of people to reorganise, rebook and get everyone back to their normal hair vibes, but collectively with our clients’ help we’ve managed to get back on track,” says Ellen.

“We are so grateful for our loyal clients and that they supported us during the tough lockdown. It’s still tough with making sure everyone stays safe and protected, the masks and visors aren’t easy but they are essential to keeping us all safe and we’d rather be back in the salon with all you guys and girls than not.”

There are plans to expand the offering at Steadman & Co even further with more stylists and a wider offer of hair and beauty related treatments.

“We are constantly listening to what our clients are interested in,” says beautician Emily. “We like to try to ensure we offer a wide range of treatments whether that is regular ones or new ones!

“Our next treatment we plan to offer would be a radio frequency machine to go alongside our popular and effective Environ facial treatments.”

Owner Ellen hopes Steadman & Co is providing a much needed boost for clients during stressful times.

“We believe in self-love and looking after your wellbeing – if our salon is somewhere that helps you feel more confident, relaxed and refreshed then we know we’ve done our job right! Essentially, we want to keep growing to create quality, atmospheric experiences for all of our hair and beauty clients.”

Tickets for the next aesthetics events will be sold via social media and in the salon, social distancing rules and PPE apply on the evening, but they promise an educational and memorable evening.
