YELLOW BIKES MARK NEW CiCLE FESTIVAL ROUTE IN BOURNE

On your marks, get set… Cycle!

You might be wondering why you’ve been spotting so many bright yellow cycles dotted around the local Bourne area…don’t worry – you aren’t going crazy, they’re here as part of the build up for Bourne’s first ever CiCLE festival!

Many classic bikes such as Grantham man John Baldwin’s late father’s 1940’s cycle are being painted and donated to the festival by Bourne’s local community to be used to raise awareness of the brand new event, and the routes that professional (and hopeful cyclists) will be tackling over this 2 day long spectacular!

More than 50 unwanted cycles have been given to the festival’s organisers, painting them yellow to brighten the men and women’s tough day of cycling and set the routes of the races. The festival will include a men’s 175Km track and a women’s 115km track both finishing and starting in Bourne, attracting the UK’s top teams. The tracks cover many of our beautiful local natural landscapes, with the men’s race covering Billingborough, Folkingham and Old Somerby, and the women’s race covering Ingoldsby, Bitchfield and Castle Bytham.

This may sound like a very intense day, but don’t hit the brakes if you aren’t a cycling connoisseur and still wish to take part – there are volunteering opportunities and Sportive’s taking place at your leisure, with options of 54 mile, 69 mile and 86 mile tracks for you to choose from… or simply watch from the sidelines in the lively crowd spaces!

The superb Sportive takes place on the morning of Saturday August 31, and the Women’s team trial takes place on Sunday September 1 morning!

Along with loads of fab races to watch, enjoy, and take part in – the CiCLE festival offers an amazing family day out just down the road with its exclusive ‘Event Centre’ – with talks and demonstrations about your favourite cycles, displays, trade stands and plenty of food… this festival is absolutely off the chain!
