WIN A XMAS HAMPER AND TV @ CITY MARKET

Shoppers at Peterborough city market are being given two chances to win prizes at the City Market this Christmas, with a 48″ Samsung TV and a hamper brimming with goodies both up for grabs.

You can enter the hamper draw by filling in an entry card at any of the market’s 85 stalls before Friday December 19, and depositing the completed card in one of the boxes distributed around the market .Market_13

The Mayor of Peterborough, Councillor David Over, will personally deliver the hamper to the winner’s front door.

The hamper will be stuffed full of treats supplied by stalls at the market, which will be open for normal hours up until 4pm on Christmas Eve, Wednesday December 24, during the busy festive shopping period.

Raffle tickets for the TV draw will be given to shoppers each time they buy an item from one of 14 participating stalls at the retail spot, up until the closing date of the competition on Friday December 5.

Market_45Steve Woolley, markets and commercial trading officer at Peterborough City Council, pictured left, said: “Peterborough City Market is the ideal place to shop for all your Christmas needs – from gifts to fresh produce for festive feasts.

“This wonderful hamper gives a taste of the fantastic goods on offer, and I encourage everyone to come down and enjoy the seasonal atmosphere, browse the terrific array of products and put themselves in the running for the prize.

“There is an amazing, seasonal feel to the city centre in the build up to Christmas Day, and visiting the market is a unique way to get into the festive spirit.”

The city market, which is in the area bounded by Northminster (the main entrance), Laxton Square, Cattle Market Road and Market Way, features a vast range of products all year round.

You can get everything you need in the build-up to Christmas, from cards, decorations and stocking filler gifts to seasonal fresh fruit and vegetables and, of course, the all-important turkey and trimmings.Market_29

Leading up to Christmas Day, the market will be open as normal – Tuesday to Saturday, from 8.30am to 4pm. Stalls will also be open for an extra day on Monday December 22.

The stalls participating in the TV draw, which have all sponsored the prize, include EJ Computing, Woodland Butcher, Lovelace Flowers, Simply Fabrics, Get The Game, Thomasz’s BBQ, Crowtree Farm, Small World, Market Cobbler and Hansons, as well as the market’s bags, tools and hardware, fashion and fish stalls.

The market will be closed on Christmas Day and Boxing Day, but will be open again on Saturday December 27. It will be closed on New Year’s Day, Thursday January 1.

It costs 50p per hour to use the market multi-storey car park.
