Here’s a great opportunity for young talent to perform new music in front of an audience and receive professional feedback!
Are you a budding Adele, Ed Sheeran or Sam Smith? Does your band or ensemble write its own material? Could you be the nation’s next Coldplay, Pink Floyd, Britten or Lloyd Webber?
Once again Peterborough Music Hub and the Peterborough Music Festival have joined forces to present a fabulous opportunity for local composers to compete in a Youth Music Showcase of original new music and compositions at the Key Theatre on Friday March 17 as part of 2017’s Peterborough Music Festival.
This is the 2nd year of the New Youth Music Showcase competition. Last year’s winner was Thomas Dunleavy – a ten year old singer and guitarist who wowed the audience with a standout performance and excellent original songs. But all the entrants – including pianists, a flautist, guitarists and a rapper – were commended for their skills, originality and potential.
The competition provides a great opportunity for entrants to appear on the Key Theatre stage, receive professional feedback and potentially win significant prizes. Winning entrants will also have the opportunity to have their music profiled at civic events throughout the year, reaching audiences across the city and beyond.
Tickets to attend the event as a spectator can be purchased through the Key Theatre Box Office, priced at £4.00 (£2.00 concession). www.vivacity-peterborough.com or call 01733 207239.
The showcase includes three classes:
Solo or duet. Own choice of original composition, not exceeding 5 minutes
Own choice of original composition, not exceeding 5 minutes
Maximum 8 performers. Own choice programme of original compositions, not exceeding 8 minutes
All entrants must be 18 years of age or under – as at 1st September 2016and a number of cash prizes will be awarded by an independent industry professional.
