Outdoor Theatre: Signal Fires

A live outdoor theatre event’s coming to Serpentine Green in Peterborough this month as part of a national festival but is celebrating our homegrown talent.
Eastern Angles Theatre Company and HighTide Theatre are joining forces to bring us Signal Fires: Peterborough, a LIVE outdoor theatre event, part of a national festival of fires!
The event is part of a unified effort from the UK’s leading touring theatre companies who are coming together this autumn to present a series of Signal Fires. The project is inspired by one of the original forms of theatre – storytelling around a fire.
All being well weather wise the event will take place on the green to the rear of Serpentine Green Shopping Centre (accessible from Eagle Way no through the shopping cnetre) but if the weather is too bad it will be relocated inside The Undercroft. They’ll be creating a brilliant tech fire which they promise will look impressive but won’t keep you warm… so take your chairs and blankets.
Eastern Angles will present the culmination of their Young Writers Group which was cut short due to the lockdown in March. It will be a celebration of the brilliant homegrown talent of Peterborough with each writer presenting a 10-minute extract from their script.
HighTide will present two pieces from their lockdown monologue series: Gran by Ben Weatherill and Bedlam Before The Burnout by Aisha Zia. Gran is a touching portrait of life during the COVID-19 pandemic and the small moments of joy that can be found and will be performed by Sabrina Sandhu (Everyone’s Talking About Jamie, West End). Bedlam Before The Burnout explores the chaos of modern urban life and the feeling of apocalypse which loomed even before the global pandemic.
Chimes Coffee Shop in CSK Church will be open before each performance so you can grab a hot drink, soup or choose from a selection of cakes.
Covid safety measures will be in place for both audience and staff and capacity’s limited to 30 per performance.
Performances are at 3pm and 6.30pm – it’s outdoors so wrap up!
Tickets start at £5 and can be booked in family groups of up to 6 people, booking via the Eastern Angles Box Office on 01473 211498 or www.easternangles.co.uk
