Good things happen when you wear the right shoes… so get your panto pumps on, hot foot it to The Key and you’ll have a ball at this year’s production of Cinderella!

METP-05-12-13DL095Michael Cross might not be playing the dame any more but his writing and direction are all over this fantastic panto with the references to Peterborough coming thick and fast throughout the script.

It’s that local feel that always gives The Key Theatre panto it’s own individual identity and provides plenty of laughs.

You can’t help but smile as Cinderella sings about dreaming of going to the bright lights of Wisbech or the ugly sisters scathingly accuse the audience of having ‘Bretton breath’ – wherever you are from in the city you’ll pretty much get a mention and a light hearted insult!

The ugly sisters, Simon Naylor and Joe Morrow, are doubly good as Maxi Mumm and Mini Mumm and really stand out in the show prompting plenty of boos and hisses from the audience and a coach load of laughs.METP-05-12-13DL082

An unintended costume malfunction just added to the fun and was dealt with in style – it’s those moments that for me always add warmth and personality to the Key’s pantos and with such an intimate feel in the auditorium it all makes you part of the on-stage fun.

Regular favourites like Paul Crosby as Baron Hardup and Adam Patman (born for panto!) as Buttons always put in a good performance.

Laura Darton makes a great Cinders and Katie Pritchard as Prince Charming’s man servant Dandini might be small in stature but really makes her presence felt.

Surprisingly the cast all play their own instruments proving they’re a really multi talented bunch.

So pull up your pumpkin and and let the festivities commence – you won’t need a royal invitation but book before midnight or you might miss out on having a ball!

Cinderella runs until January 5 with various performances and discounts available, call the box office on 01733 207239 to find out more and book tickets.
