Peterborough City Market is inviting carol singers and choirs to join in with a packed programme of festive events and activities this Christmas.
Schools and organisations with carol singers, groups and choirs are being asked to help spread Christmas cheer with performances at the market throughout December.
Performers will be able to collect for school projects, charities and other local causes whilst entertaining shoppers with seasonal songs.
Steve Woolley, Market Manager at Peterborough City Council, told ESP – “Our festive programme is really beginning to take shape with lots for shoppers to enjoy including a decorative Christmas lights and tree display and a special hamper give-away.
“Carol singers really add to the lively atmosphere at this time of year and we hope to attract enough groups to perform every week throughout the festive season.”
The city market is the ideal shopping destination for stocking filler gifts and Christmas decorations and seasonal fruit and fresh vegetables to go with a turkey dinner.
Shoppers can also take advantage of one-hour parking in the Northminster multi-storey car park, which has been reduced from £1.20 to just 50p.
The city market will be opening for three additional days during the run-up to Christmas. The days are: Monday December 16 from 8.30am until 4pm, Sunday December 22 from 10am until 4pm and Monday December 23 from 8.30am until 4pm.
It will be closed on Christmas Day, Boxing Day and on Sunday December 29 and Monday December 30 but will re-open on Tuesday December 31 from 8.30am to 4pm. The city market will be closed on New Year’s Day.
