VINYL REVIVAL @ PETERBOROUGH RECORD STORE

If you like to celebrate your vinyl and feel an album or EP just puts CD’s and downloads in the shade, get ready to support Record Store Day this month at our very own Peterborough record store.

Mars Plectrum Records – the UK’s smallest independent vinyl record shop – is run by Matt Hawton a dedicated fan of vinyl who likes it so much he created his own store in his garden at 387 Fulbridge Road.

The internet has had a huge impact on retail and independent record shops in particular. Record Store Day has not just done wonders to support the vinyl revival, but the shops that sell it. It’s supported by huge stars – this year’s RSD ambassadors are Metallica, last year it was Dave Grohl.

Matt first took part last year when ESP’s Man About Town Pep Cipriano dropped by, and Matt’s expecting it to be another popular day. “To give you an idea as to how sought after these exclusive records are, last year the queues started at around 4am with the shop opening at 8am. Customers know that the numbers are strictly limited and not available anywhere else. They’re worth getting out of bed for! “Back in the day, record shops used to be a meeting place. Somewhere to hang out with your mates and hear the latest music. RSD is looking to bring that back. There’s a superb atmosphere in the queue and the shop on the day. We can’t wait!”
