SPORTING SUNDAY SET TO INSPIRE

Writer: ESP OnlineESP Online

Inspire Peterborough, inclusive sport project of local charity Disability Peterborough, are holding the first ever Sporting Sunday at Jack Hunt School, Netherton on Sunday.

The event on Sunday July 5 from will run regardless of the weather from 1.30 – 4.30pm as they’re using indoor and outdoor space.

Their original event, Sporting Saturday which has run at the Cresset for 2 years, attracted over 1000 people earlier this year. Sporting Sunday will bring together some of the key providers of sport for disabled people, their families and carers in and around Peterborough. Activities will include volleyball, seated volleyball, wheelchair dance, goalball, swimming, cricket and table cricket, walking for health, archery, rowability, handcycling, athletics and a ParaTriathlon.

This free event will begin at 1.30, with swimming available from 3pm onwards. There will be an opportunity to register for the Inclusive Sport Peterborough programme, which has been funded by Sport England and the National Lottery. This programme of archery, cricket, handcycling and swimming is also available as an outreach programme where partners Inspire Peterborough and Vivacity Disability Sports bring the activities to you and your group. More information can be found at www.inspirepeterborough.com/sport-england-inclusive-sport-fund.

In the run up to the 2016 Paralympics in Rio there is a tremendous buzz about para triathlon being included for the first time. Inspire Peterborough are very excited to announce that yet again they will be holding a Para Go Tri event as part of their day! Utilising the swimming sessions, handcycles provided by Vivacity and athletics run by Nene Valley Harriers, participants can sign up to have a go at the three aspects of a para triathlon with the hope to inspire the people of Peterborough to get behind para triathlon in Rio and to try it for themselves.

To register for your free place at Sporting Sunday visit www.inspirepeterborough.com/register or alternatively just turn up on the day. For more information contact gail@inspirepeterborough.com or call 01733 330815 and speak to the Inspire Peterborough team.
