PUCCINI’s MADAM BUTTERFLY COMES TO THE CRESSET

If one of your resolutions for 2016 was to try out something different, then why not indulge in an evening of opera and enjoy a classic performance of Madam Butterfly.

Being performed live at the Cresset on Wednesday March 2 by The Russian State Opera, Madam Butterfly is a dramatic tale of love, culture and heartbreak.

Based on the story by John Luther Long and adapted from David Belasco’s play, to the operatic stage by Giacomo Puccini, Madam Butterfly tells the saga of the young Japanese bride Cio-Cio-San and the disloyalty of her dashing American husband, officer lieutenant Pinkerton.

This touching story of innocent love crushed amidst two utterly different cultures resonates as strongly as ever in today’s world.

Expect tears, high emotions and passion as The Russian State Opera brings this powerful performance to Peterborough.

Featuring an impressive cast and accompanied by a large live orchestra with over 30 musicians, get ready for one of the most colourful and exotic operas ever produced.
