NYE FINAL GIG FOR DEAD RABBITS

It’s finally the end of the road for this great loca tribute band…

Since 2002, The Dead Rabbits have long been a popular and lively band on the local live music circuit in Peterborough, Stamford and the surrounding area. That’s when they began their tribute to The Pogues with huge acclaim. Over the years, many a local venue has found its patrons bouncing, drinking and swaying to their raucous sound and very lively stage presence. That includes a very memorable appearance at the Peterborough Beer Festival. So it is with a heavy heart that they’ve decided that the ride is over and they need to call it a day.

Mike Carr, their lead singer told ESP: “We’ve had a great time over the years and some very memorable gig. One that stands out is when we played at The Brewery Tap with two original members of The Pogues, Spider Stacy and Andrew Rankin at the inaugural Randall Rootz Festival. The fact that we were playing with them just added to the moment because the festival was created in memory of our drummer and friend Mark Randall who sadly passed away in 2004.” Indeed 10 years later Randall Rootz is still an important feature in the local live music scene.

There have been a few line-up changes over the years, but, Mike added – “The one constant has been our very loyal fan base who have encouraged us to play louder and drink harder. So thanks to all who have supported us over the years and made the gigs the great and memorable nights that they have always been. We’ve made a lot of friends, we’ve drank a lot of whisky and I think we’ve all escaped with only mild alcoholism – I guess that’s rock ‘n’ roll!”

The Dead Rabbits very last gig will be played on New Year’s Eve at Mama Liz’s Voodoo Lounge in Stamford. The night is called ‘Goodbye Rabbits Hello 2015 Show’ and the band would obviously love to see all their fans there for their parting party to remember.
