MORE LIKE TREES JOIN THIS MONTH’S LAVANDULA NIGHT

This month’s Lavandula sees More Like Trees make a special appearance in the city, in between performances at The Secret Garden Party and Boomtown festivals.

They’re a 3-piece, drawing on a range of musical influences to create ‘Strum & Bass’ acoustic music combining traditional techniques to create fresh twists on modern genres. Incorporating elements of Classical, Hip Hop, Rock, Dance, Flamenco and Folk: they refuse to play by the rules, consistently surprising and delighting fans of all genres.

As well as recently supporting Billy Bragg they have a love of collaboration reflected in their regular sessions with artists such as the acclaimed Joe Driscoll, BBC Slam Poetry Champion, Dizraeli, Jazz Hip Hop stars Lazy Habits and UK Beatbox Champion Reeps One.

They are supported on the night by Peterborough’s very own Charlie Alexander playing acoustic songs that demand attention and burst with life.

Lavandula is hosted each month by a group of friends who want to provide another option for going out in Peterborough.  “We have two key goals.  To create a friendly and interesting environment where we can showcase some of the city’s best musical talent alongside performers from the festival circuit.  The other is to raise funds for The Brain Tumour Charity,” said Rich Hill, one of the Lavandula troupe.

Friday August 2 @ The Tap Room, Brewery Tap.  Doors 8pm till late.  £4 entry, all proceeds to The Brain Tumour Charity.
