LIZA IS A WET SHAVE WINNER!

Peterborough barber takes East Anglia title in hunt for Britain’s Best Shave…

A Peterborough woman has been crowned East Anglia’s Best Wet Shaving Barber after an impressive victory at the regional final of the competition last month.

Liza Schwartz, of Spencer’s Hair Salon, on Lincoln Road, beat off razor sharp competition from fourteen other talented barbers to take the coveted regional title at the Sheffield event.

She is now preparing for the final round of the search to find Britain’s Best Wet Shaving Barber, an event organised by the British Barbers’ Association and premium male grooming brand The Bluebeards Revenge.

The final will feature a very special ‘speed-shaving’ tournament inside a boxing ring at Barber Connect 2014, to be held at the luxurious Celtic Manor Hotel, near Newport, on Sunday May 25.

Eight barbers, including Liza, will battle it out in an FA Cup style competition, with the winner landing themselves the prestigious title of Britain’s Best Wet Shaving Barber, a starring role in a shaving commercial for The Bluebeards Revenge, and £3k of grooming products from the luxury male grooming brand.

Regional finalists were judged on a number of different criteria, including preparation, razor technique, after-shave routine, health and safety and general efficiency. Liza, who is the only female barber in the national final, excelled on every aspect of the cut-throat shave and will go into the final full of confidence.

She said: “It was fantastic to get as far as the regional final in the first place, so I’m absolutely thrilled to have won it. I know there have been lots of really talented barbers in the running so far, so to reach the final is a privilege, and I really hope I can go on to take the title.”

Mike Taylor, director of the British Barbers’ Association, said: “All the entrants have put in a fantastic effort so far, and it’s great to see such a return in enthusiasm for the traditional wet shave.  The final is set to be a really exciting event, where we’ll see some very high quality skills in action. This lot are the cream of the crop, and we’re looking forward to seeing them pull out all of the stops to impress the judges.”

Nick Gibbens, spokesperson for The Bluebeards Revenge, added: “The response we’ve received to the competition this year has been fantastic. The contestants so far have been of a really high standard, and we can’t wait to find out which of the finalists will be crowned King or Queen of the Wet Shaves. The final is going to be pure shaving theatre.”

All we can say is ‘Good Luck Liza’!
