GIVE THE GIFT OF A CHALLENGE!

A run for everyone wrapped up at Christmas…

Strggling for pressie ideas? How about the gift of a challenge that’s good for their health too?

Organisers of the Perkins Great Eastern Run are encouraging people who are stuck for Christmas gift ideas to buy an entry for someone into the city’s annual half marathon.

Signing up a family member or friend into the 2014 race is an ideal Christmas present for people looking to take on a challenge in the New Year.

By declaring entries open for 2014 at this year’s event in October, race organisers Peterborough City Council are targeting the half marathon and fun run to reach their entry capacity and early purchasing is recommended.

Entries to the half marathon and fun run increased by 20 per cent and 85 per cent respectively and runners are already signing up to take part in 2014.

Approximately 7,000 runners signed up to the event, making it the most successful Perkins Great Eastern Run since the race was re-introduced to Peterborough in 2006.

Annette Joyce, Race Director and Head of Commercial Operations at Peterborough City Council, told ESP – “For someone who is determined to make healthy lifestyle changes in 2014, a Christmas present entry into the Perkins Great Eastern Run gives them a realistic challenge to aim for.

“It also guarantees a place in the race, which is growing in popularity and reputation every year. Both the half marathon and fun run have the potential to reach entry capacity next year and I would encourage anyone thinking of signing up to do so as soon as they can.”

The Perkins Great Eastern Run takes place on Sunday October 12, 2014, on The Embankment in Peterborough. The fun run starts at 10am, followed by the wheelchair race at 10.25 and half marathon at 10.30am.

Entries can be made online www.perkinsgreateasternrun.co.uk or at the Visitor Information Centre in Bridge Street, Peterborough.
