DON’T MISS BUTTERFLY LION @ THE BROADWAY

Butterfly Lion reaches The Broadway following the success of Michael Morpurgo’s War Horse.

From the writer of acclaimed story War Horse comes another hard-hitting piece of theatre with Butterfly Lion starring Coronation Street actress Gwen Taylor.

Taking place during the First World War, it’s a story of great friendship, where main character Bertie rescues a white lion cub from a pack of hyenas. When Bertie leaves Africa to live in England, the lion is sold off to the circus.

Once they part, Bernie has to say his goodbyes, promising he’ll see the lion cub again. Bertie doesn’t know yet that he will be taken to France to fight in the war before he can see his beloved friend once more.

This sentimental tale is typical of what Morpurgo does, so you’ll be a fan if you enjoyed the magnificent theatrical version of War Horse. With plenty of emotion, the storytelling comes to life with a unique setting and clever use of puppetry on a big scale. It’s perfect for a range of audiences, who can all be gripped by this tale of love and friendship during the horrors of a terrible war.

Described by The Guardian as a combination of War Horse and the Lion King, it’s a moving tale that will be tugging at the heartstrings. The Butterfly Lion has been acclaimed by many reviewers, including The Guardian and The Daily Mail and you’ll be lucky enough to catch it before it goes to the West End for its London premiere.
