CITY GUY BIDS TO BECOME NINJA WARRIOR ON ITV SHOW!

Local guy Jake Maguire will be taking on the toughest obstacle course on television as he competes in Ninja Warrior on ITV.

Already a smash hit in the USA, Sweden, Malaysia and Japan, Ninja Warrior UK is hosted by Ben Shephard, Rochelle Humes and Chris Kamara. It’s billed as ‘the ultimate test of strength, speed and courage’ and Jake is one of 250 competitors who signed up for the show.

The 33 year-old security engineer for Britannia Fire & Security in Yaxley, who’s keen on Martial Arts and body building, trains at Premiere Fitness in Hampton and Rhinos gym in Stamford. Brought up in Stamford and now living in Hampton Jake’s been a fan of these type of shows for years and couldn’t wait to apply when he heard it was being launched in the UK.

“I was completely overwhelmed and excited when I heard I’d got through,” Jake told ESP.

Contestants from all walks of life ranging from ‘Have a Go Heroes’ to ‘Superhuman Athletes’ are invited to take on the challenges of the course.

“You only get to see the course when you do it,” explains Jake, “there are no practice runs. You can’t really prepare.”

The show first aired last weekend revealing some contestants could superbly execute the course while others spectacularly fail, crashing out of the course into the water below. Each part is laden with jaw-dropping challenges as the contestants attempt to complete three punishing and potentially hilarious stages.

Jake added – “I’ve never done anything like this before. It was nerve wracking but a great experience. I’m so pleased I did it.

“I really loved it – the whole crew and people I met on the show made it such an amazing experience. It’s opened lots of doors it’s been brilliant.”

Watch the next episode of Ninja Warrior UK featuring our own local lad Jake Maguire on ITV on Saturday April 18 at 7pm.
