CAKES MAKE CASH @ GREYHOUNDS COFFEE MORNING

Over £1,000 was raised at just one of the many recent Macmillan coffee mornings as city businesses headed to Peterborough Greyhound Stadium to network and eat cake!

ESP sent reporter Mikey Clarke along to support the event…

When my editor asked if I fancied heading to the Greyhound Stadium for some cake, I thought – “It’s a tough job, but somebody has to do it!”

The stadium joined forces with Lloyds Bank to hold Peterborough’s Biggest Coffee Morning in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support and a variety of local businesses went along to show their support alongside Miss Peterborough, Laura Bailey and ESP Magazine!

There was a raffle with some fantastic prizes up for grabs, including a Chef de la Maison Afternoon Tea for 10 people, networking vouchers from the Chamber of Commerce & Talk Networking, and a £100 gift voucher for Alwalton Hall to name just a few.

It was a chance for locals to do their bit for a good cause, but also to network with fellow professionals.

Whilst stuffing my face with cake, I caught up with Hannah Thompson, the Business Development Manager for the Peterborough Greyhound Stadium.

She told me, “I’m extremely grateful to all the businesses that have supported us, whether it was donating to the raffle, baking cakes and turning up to the event.

“The local corporate community really pulled together to make this a success. I’d particularly like to thank Lloyds Bank for matching the £500+ raised from this event, meaning more than £1000 will go to a great cause.”

The cakes seemed to be going down particularly well. “I was hoping to take some home but I fear they’ll all be gone,” Hannah joked.
