The Embankment rocked out as thousands flocked to see Canadian star Bryan Adams perform live in Peterborough on Friday August 5.
With thousands of people beginning to gather down at the Embankment in Peterborough on a glorious summer’s evening, the ESP team were there to join them and caught up with excited fans as they gathered to see the man himself, Bryan Adams. It soon became clear many people had come from far and wide especially to attend this particular event.
Fans were certainly not disappointed as Bryan Adams went on to rock the Embankment with a fantastic 2 hour performance followed by a half an hour encore. Many locals had even gathered outside the arena to try and catch some of his brilliant performance, which echoed out across Peterborough city centre.
The gig was part of his Get Up tour and ESP managed to catch up with a few excited crowd members before the show to see which songs they were most looking forward to seeing the star perform on the night.
Rick from Peterborough and Sue from Cambridge were among many looking forward to hearing his big hit Summer of 69 which has to be a favourite for most people!
Maxine and Sally had travelled all the way from Sheffield and were looking forward to hearing Please Forgive Me and Heaven.
Brother and sister Hayley and Sam from St Neots were eager to get into the arena and were particularity excited about hearing Bryan perform Summer of 69 and Is Your Mama Gonna Miss Ya. They said that he was in for a good crowd with a very promising turn out as the Embankment rapidly filled up with live music fans pouring in.
Catherine and Johnny from Peterborough had previously seen Bryan Adams in concert on his Get Up tour in Sheffield and were back to see him again in their home town. They had one of his songs for their own wedding and were looking forward to being able to reminisce over it again.
Lyla and Linda from Corby were enjoying the concert as a birthday present and it was Lyla’s first time seeing Bryan Adams live so she was particularly excited.
Overall it was a fantastic turn out for the city, Bryan Adams had an enthusiastic and lively crowd to perform to and it was a truly enjoyable evening for all ages.
Les Kidger, Director of LCC Live, said – “More than 9,000 fans turned out on the Embankment to see Bryan Adams and they weren’t disappointed. With a set lasting over two hours, they were in great spirits for what was one of Mr Adams’ best shows yet. The open air event with the massive production and the sun shining led to a fantastic evening.”
Judging by the reaction of fans we’re clearly not alone in wanting to see more big names like this perform here. It was a fantastic evening Peterborough can be proud of and we can’t wait for more.
Councillor Janet Goodwin, cabinet member for city centre management, culture and tourism, told ESP – “The concert was brilliant, Bryan Adams was superb and it was fantastic to see almost 10,000 people attend the event. The feedback we’ve had from residents has been very positive and we’d love to see more concerts of this size take place on the Embankment in the future.”
The response from the promoter is encouraging with Mr Kidger adding – “We’ve had a really positive response to the show. Fans got excited by the show and thoroughly enjoyed themselves on Friday night. The success of this show has certainly reinforced the Embankment as a music venue and we hope to work with Peterborough City Council in the future to promote further shows in the city.”
Fingers crossed then!
