The Bible’s Boo Hewerdine is coming to the Boro…

Another good gig at North Street Bar takes place on Thursday May 29. Boo Hewerdine will be performing live there in the Courtyard Room as part of his ‘My Name in the Brackets’ National Tour.

His support on the night is by Peterborough singer/songwriter John Quinn – another talented singer/songwriter who was recently seen auditioning on The Voice, and is frontman of  The Fleeting Minds.

John told ESP – “I’m really looking forward to supporting such an accomplished songwriter, and playing the songs I’d normally play with The Fleeting Minds stripped to the bare minimum. Plus it’s a chance to showcase some new and different material which is an exciting prospect for me.” Boo was a founder member of cult band The Bible, and has received outstanding acclaim as a songwriter and performer.

Over 400 of his songs have been recorded by artists including Eddi Reader, K.D.Lang, Natalie Imbruglia, The Corrs, Mary Chapin Carpenter and Mel C. He has been nominated for an Ivor Novello music award, and Nick Hornby gives over an entire chapter to him in his book ‘31 Songs’ describing him as ‘intimidatingly good’.

He started his working career in the warehouse at Andy’s Records which had one of its first stores in Peterborough.

A unique shop in many ways, and Boo reckons he learnt so much about the trade by being exposed to such a wide range of music.
