ARE YOU GETTING ENOUGH… FOLIC ACID?!

Thursday May 1 marks the second national Folic Acid Awareness Day, an initiative of the Peterborough based charity Shine.

The aim of the campaign, launched in 2011, is to help raise women’s awareness of the importance of taking folic acid before pregnancy to help reduce the number of pregnancies affected by serious birth defects like spina bifida which affects 1 in 1,000 pregnancies in the UK.

The fun kicks off with an all day promotion, plus giveaways, at the ASDA store in Rivergate with help from pharmacy staff and local midwives.

The awareness raising will also be in full flow at the fabulous Nail Design in Westgate Arcade.

At 11am the action continues with FREE wristbands, vitamins and information being given away in Cathedral Square by Shine staff and members who will be ably assisted by local MP Stewart Jackson, council leader Gillian Beesley, and Jenna Dunster from Peterborough United.

Please pop along and see us on the day and take advantage of the freebies on offer, and who knows… you might learn something that could change someone’s future?!
